Reader Journal
I liked reading Hell Hawks in class. I think is written in a way that shows the war in a different light. In movies I have seen, they really don’t portray it in them as a gritty and bloody war, with a lot of bloodshed and death of asides of main fighting powers. Hell hawks portrays it as I think it really happen without changing the story to make it more interesting to the reader. Most of the accounts are from people in the 356th fighting grope or journals from the pilots them. Where I am in the book right now while writing it, a group of German fighters attacked the airfield where the hell Hawks were posted at. The book described in detail what happened to the pilots of the hell hawks and the German pilots. During the attack a few of German fighters got shot down by the flak (AAA). as they crashed it said that the bodies were thrown from the planes were ripped apart on the runway, and there were body parts hanging in trees.
In the book I never really could compare my life and my experiences to the lives of the pilots of the 365th fighter group. I have never had to lock myself in to the cockpit of a 5 ton plane and fly in to war, and no dropping bombs, shooting rockets and fire 8 50cl machine guns and something or someone. The closest thing I have done is to being diving in a car. I never felt like i was nerve endanger, never like I was in a coffin. In the book it explains that the pilot basically eat, sleep, and fly, but they did have some variations in their daily routines.
